Tell your brain “unfamiliar”… not “hard.”
Because most of the things we label as hard are just things we haven’t done enough yet.
Marketing. Reels. Showing up online.
None of it felt natural at first.
But maybe it’s not “hard”—it’s just unfamiliar.
And the more we do something, the more familiar it becomes…
until one day we call it “familiar" or "Easy"
Same applies to being in front of the camera.
To running a business.
To putting yourself out there.
It’s not about being naturally good at it.
It’s about being willing to stay in the unfamiliar long enough for it to feel normal.
Your brain doesn’t stop to fact-check every thought—you repeat something enough, and it starts to accept it as truth.
Say “this is hard,” and your brain looks for proof.
Say “this is unfamiliar,” and your brain shifts into learning mode instead of resistance.
A strategy I use post-stroke.
Things that were once familiar can feel unfamiliar again.
So I remind myself:
“You’ve done this before. You’ll do it again. It’s just a bit unfamiliar right now.”
